Analytical and numerical calculations show contraction dynamics in argon arcs influenced by impurities, indicating significant dissociation effects.
The process of contraction of plasma column of an argon arc at high pressure is considered under the influence of molecular and electronegative impurities. It is shown that the main influence is caused by dissociation of molecular impurities in working gas. The results of analytical and numerical calculations are studied in comparison to existed experimental data.
