Numerical simulations explore dynamic response of aluminium panels in vertical water impact, indicating critical design insights for water landings.
This study investigates the structural safety of aircraft water landings using LS-DYNA software. It employs the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) and Finite Element Method (FEM) coupling method to develop a fluid-structure interaction model for vertical water impact on an aluminium alloy stiffened panel. Numerical simulations were performed to characterize the stiffened panel’s dynamic response during vertical water entry. Results demonstrate that the ALE-FEM method achieves computationally efficient and accurate simulations of large-deformation fluid-structure interactions, providing critical theoretical support for aircraft water landing safety design.
