Research investigates earthquake readiness in students through a distance learning intervention, highlighting preparedness levels.
Natural disasters are rising with a variety of natural and human environmental consequences. Earthquakes are one of the most common natural disasters in Greece, which require increased readiness from the schools. As part of the Home Economics course that also talks about natural disasters, a two-hour inter-school, distance learning and research intervention took place in the week 06/04 to 10/04/2020. Inter-school because four schools of Thessaloniki and Karditsa participated, research because a survey was conducted through a questionnaire and distance learning because the Webex online video conferencing platform was used for as long as the schools remained closed due to COVID-19. The research investigates and captures the degree of readiness of students to deal with earthquake risk and examines the case of four schools from two different cities of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and Mouzaki, through a "google form" questionnaire.
