Survey reveals disparities in perceptions of communication skills among principals and teachers, highlighting leadership effectiveness.
The purpose of this research was to investigate the views of secondary education teachers and principals on the degree of possession of the communication skills of the principals in order to determine whether this is guaranteed by the existing system of selection of executives and in this way effective leadership is achieved in the school units as communication skills determine the exercise of leadership. We also found it interesting to compare the views of teachers and principals with each other. Participating teachers and principals were asked via a questionnaire to evaluate the communication skills of their principals. The results showed that the principals possess communication skills at a very good level, but with the views of teachers and principals showing a statistically significant difference between them in terms of their degree of possession. The principals assessed their communication skills much higher than teachers, indicating that the level of self-awareness and accurate self-assessment of principals may not be satisfactory.
