This research explores how flexible connections can be tailored for bamboo, indicating potential for structural uses.
Growing investment in digital manufacturing technologies, such as 3D printing, has enabled more efficient solutions in industries and research into new materials, offering the architecture, engineering and product design markets more viable manufacturing alternatives. Bamboo, a flexible material with several species, can be used in different ways, one of which is in structural applications. However, the flexibility of the material also becomes an obstacle due to the need to adjust the connections to different diameters. The aim of this article is to explore possible connections adapted to the structure of Dendrocalamus asper bamboo, using different filaments for 3D printing these connections. The methodological procedures adopted in the research were: searching for articles on Google Scholar, using parametric modeling software, reviewing theoretical references, carrying out experimental tests in the laboratory and comparative analysis. So far, the results include the materialization of connection structures in PLA, ABS and HIPS filaments using a 3D printer.
