Experimental findings demonstrate tunable lasing from 775 to 785 nm in a compact waveguide, suggesting enhanced photon generation efficiency.
Bragg reflection waveguide lasers offer compact solutions for the generation of photon pairs through spontaneous parametric down conversion, by simultaneously generating the lasing pump light and converting it into photon pairs within the same device. However, the acceptance bandwidth of the lasing light for this conversion process is small, which makes free‐runnning Fabry–Pérot lasers with no wavelength stabilisation less suitable for nonlinear processes. We present the emission characteristics of a Bragg reflection ridge waveguide laser where a surface Bragg grating is implemented in one segment of the device. The lasing wavelength, determined by the Bragg condition, can be adjusted by the period of the grating between 775 and 785 nm. Furthermore, a micro heater in the grating section enables additional tuning of the lasing wavelength by 2 nm.
