Scoping review explores communication adaptations by physiotherapists for people with aphasia post-stroke, highlighting their significance.
Background Effective physiotherapy communication is crucial for building a strong therapeutic alliance and successful rehabilitation outcomes. Physiotherapists work with people post-stroke with physical difficulties and concomitant aphasia. Adaptations are necessary to overcome or minimise communication barriers experienced by people with aphasia (PWA). There are currently limited understandings in relation to the types of communication adaptations that physiotherapists apply to support PWA, and for what purposes.
