This study demonstrates the effectiveness of a polyherbal formulation in managing menorrhagia, highlighting its hemostatic and detoxifying properties.
Asrugdara, a raktapradoshaja vikara, is characterized by abnormal uterine bleeding caused primarily due to rakta dushti and associated dosha imbalances. The present study evaluates the efficacy of Shonithasthapana Mahakashaya (SSMK) subgroups—specifically Ghana Vati formulations—on the three doshaja variants of Asrugdara: Vataja (VA),Pittaja (PA), and Kaphaja (KA). Results demonstrated a significant reduction in bleeding duration, volume, and associated symptoms across all groups, indicating the sangrahana (hemostatic), shodhana (detoxifying), and doshaghna (dosha pacifying) properties of the SSMK drugs. Anupana (madhu) and adherence to pathya-apathya (diet and lifestyle recommendations) further enhanced outcomes. The study concludes that tailored SSMK subgroup administration based on dosha predominance offers an effective therapeutic strategy for managing Asrugdara.
