This review highlights national security issues, especially Boko Haram, indicating the government's role in securing citizens.
The review took a holistic look at the security situation in the country, The government should secure the citizens and the territorial boundary of the nation. A lot of blame is put on the president, who is the custodian of the law and executor of this part of the constitution. It was revealed that the president should use all the instrumentality of the law that is in his custody, like the anti-terrorism law. They also posited that the president must check the spate of bombing going on and call for a sovereign national conference andanybody that is found culpable of breaking the law should be made accountable and punished based on the dictates of the law. For this solution to be effected, there would be need to have a structure on ground for the effective carrying out of functions of the intelligence agencies. The methodology adopted in this review was a review of several literatures that deal with the subject matter from 1988 to 2024 so as to have a wider view of the subject matter from different authors. The authors made a reference to the application of Islamic law as a panacea to tackling insecurity, especially with the problem of Boko Haram. The authors looked at the causes of insecurity which include poverty, unemployment and inequality. They also preferred solutions, which include encouraging the northern elites to take part in tackling the Boko Haram menace, especially in the area of contributing their resources to the provision of quality education for knowledge acquisition in order to safeguard the youth from being recruited into the Boko Haram militia group and also advised the government to make military enlistment for the youth a compulsory exercise and caring in order to defend the integrity of their fatherland. The establishment of NYSC was a good idea designed for university graduates to serve their father land and protect the sovereignty of the country without necessarily carrying guns and ammunition, since the armed forces are saddled with such responsibility
