This analysis reveals mapping patterns of ASD assessment and intervention tools, suggesting semantic methods can enhance function-centered planning and comparability.
The World Health Organization created the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) and the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Core Set to provide a common framework for understanding the ASD and guiding interventions, as traditional expert-based linkage is limited in terms of consistency, objectivity, and scalability. This study used a sentence embedding method to automatically map five ASD assessment and intervention tools to the ICF ASD Core Set. The analysis yielded different mapping patterns, with broader functional coverage than diagnostic studies. By aligning tools in a shared semantic space, this approach ensured comparability across measures and languages. The results showed that semantic-based automated mapping can supplement manual linkage and support function-centered planning in both education and intervention.
