Case report highlights pulmonary hypertension and right-to-left shunt in congenital heart defect.
Unilateral absence of a pulmonary artery (PA) is a rare congenital anomaly which may occur as an isolated lesion or in combination with other cardiac or vascular lesions. Here, we describe a case of patent ductus arteriosus with right-to-left shunt due to suprasystemic pulmonary hypertension. On evaluation, the patient had an absent right PA, which was responsible for the suprasystemic PA hypertension. Diagnosis was suspected by characteristic radiologic findings and confirmed by echocardiography and computed tomography angiography findings.
