Fashion design competition showcases cultural diversity and promotes sustainability among students, indicating Baduy culture's influence.
The fashion design competition held as part of the Seba Baduy 2024 event serves as an important platform for fashion students from Sekolah Tinggi Desain Indonesia (STDI) to explore and interpret Baduy culture within a modern fashion context. This event involves over 1,500 Baduy residents who walk from Kampung Ciboleger to Rangkas Bitung, highlighting the values of essentiality, spirituality, and exploration. Through this competition, participants are encouraged to integrate elements of Baduy culture, such as traditional weaving and the philosophy of simple living, into designs that are relevant and aesthetic. This study aims to analyze how students translate these cultural values into their works and the impact on public awareness of cultural diversity. The results of this competition not only showcase the innovation and creativity of students but also affirm that fashion design can be a medium for preserving and promoting rich local culture, as well as conveying profound messages about sustainability and spirituality in everyday life.
