Computational modeling reveals improved power conversion efficiency in perovskite solar cells with dual TiO2-PCBM electron transport layers, suggesting enhanced performance.
This research utilizes computational modeling to investigate the performance optimization of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) using a dual electron transport layer (ETL) configuration. The architecture under study combines titanium dioxide (TiO2) and phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) as a bilayer ETL, aiming to improve interfacial alignment and reduce carrier recombination compared to single-layer TiO2 ETLs. Simulations were carried out using the SCAPS-1D platform, which enabled a detailed evaluation of critical parameters, including defect concentrations, interfacial recombination rates, and operating temperature within a six-layer device structure. The findings revealed a highest power conversion efficiency of 26.667% at the temperature of 290 K. This work contributes to the computational studies on dual-layer ETL designs and provides foundational insights for advancing the development of high-efficiency PSCs.
