Review highlights advancements in plasma-catalytic ammonia synthesis using dielectric barrier discharge, pointing to critical interactions and methodologies.
Recent years have seen plasma‐catalytic technology emerge as a promising approach for ammonia synthesis at ambient temperatures and pressures. However, a critical gap exists in correlating advanced diagnostics with multi‐scale models to elucidate the complex plasma–catalyst interactions. This review focuses on N 2 /H 2 dielectric barrier discharge plasma‐catalytic ammonia synthesis, centering on three critical aspects of plasma–catalyst interactions: discharge characteristics, chemical species and reactions, and catalyst surface properties. It systematically summarizes and evaluates current experimental and numerical methodologies used to elucidate these three aspects. The fundamental principles, technical features, and current research outcomes of existing experimental and computational approaches are detailed, while outlining potential future research directions for advancing these experimental and simulation techniques.
