Experimental analysis showed enhanced mechanical properties in groundnut shell powder nanocomposites, indicating the potential of nano eggshell powder and chicken feather fiber concentrations.
Groundnut shell powder (GSP) is a prevalent agricultural waste in the southern regions of India, where Groundnut play a significant role in both the economics and culture. The main objectives of this project are to create and evaluate nanocomposite composites using GSP agricultural waste for structural purposes. The composites were created using compression moulding. The study examined how different concentrations of nano Eggshell Powder (ESP) and nano Chicken Feather Fiber (CFF) affected the physical and mechanical properties of GSP-based nanocomposites (2 %, 4 %, and 6 % by weight). The mechanical characteristics were significantly enhanced when 6 wt. % ESP and 4 wt. % CFF were loaded. The addition of various nanoparticles reduced the water absorption. After 20 days, ESP at 2, 4, and 6 wt. % reduced water absorption by 5 %, improved water permeability by 8 %, and increased overall water absorption by 18.25 %. Due to CFF filler agglomeration, inclusion at a high concentration of 6 wt. % increased moisture content by 4.96 %. Nevertheless, water uptakes declined by 4.21 % and 9.01 % at 2 and 4 wt. %, respectively.
