This examination explores metaverse design concepts that challenge traditional notions of reality, suggesting new implications for architectural design.
The integration of the concept of the metaverse into our lives has added a new depth to discussions of reality. In addition to the copied realities in our world, the metaverse emerges as an alternate reality. This study, based on the theories of multiple thinkers, examines where the concept of the metaverse fits into discussions of reality. The relationships between the metaverse spaces and reality are studied in terms of architectural design. When space–time limitations in the lived world are not included in the metaverse, questions are raised about potential design approaches for metaverse areas. The discussion focuses on designs that both imitate and create reality. The extent to which the original metaverse spaces generate their realities and how need to be clarified. The dimension of reality of those spaces has been theorized via the introduced concept of ‘inventive reality’ by the researchers. The current meanings and functions of objects designed and utilized in metaverse spaces are assumed to exist by differentiating, and this differentiation allows for the investigation of the elements in the metaverse spaces that are produced by the absence of the space–time limit, as well as the generation of ideas for the metaverse’s architecture. In light of this, the study suggests innovative metaverse design concepts.
