Critical exploration of the metaverse's role in emerging cyber threats and Morocco's national security strategy.
The Metaverse is a new space where various types of threats thrive, similarly, another category of threat that is also developing in this space under study, has shown a complete surpassing of the gains and profiles of traditional criminal activities. We will believe that this rise in complex and professional threats in the Metaverse threatens the stability of public order in general and goes beyond the simple operations of profit and the particular interests. We consider that we are facing a new generation of cyber threats, which makes the efforts of states to regulate these ambiguous spaces seem insufficient, even ineffective, in the face of the professionalism and complexity of these emerging cyber threats. This situation calls into question the capabilities of the Moroccan state, particularly in anticipating and preventing such threats that exceed the capacities of law and internal regulations, by developing cooperation and alliance capabilities with different actors, especially in intelligence and espionage capacities. This raises questioning our situation, about the effectiveness of Morocco’s cybersecurity strategy. Does it have the capacity to anticipate such a power game that brings together criminals with intelligence potentials to achieve such objectives within the Metaverse against the stability of the Moroccan state?
