Descriptive-analytical review identifies challenges in urban tourism projects, suggesting key areas for improvement.
This study aims to identify the factors contributing to the failure of urban tourism destination projects, with a focus on the case study of Teras Cihampelas in Bandung. The project, which was designed to improve the quality of urban tourism destinations, faces several challenges that have contributed to its failure. The methodology used is a descriptive-analytical literature review, gathering data from various relevant sources to explore the factors behind the failure. Based on the literature review, it was found that the lack of local community involvement, inadequate design, poor environmental management, and misalignment with market trends are the main factors contributing to the project's failure. Additionally, external factors such as limited resources, political crises, and unsupported policies also have a significant impact. Based on this analysis, six key aspects that need to be prioritized to ensure the success of urban tourism projects are: local community involvement, visitor- and community-friendly design, sustainable environmental management, alignment with market trends, adequate resources, and political stability with supportive policies.
