Synthesis and characterization of a new manganese polymer using single-crystal X-ray diffraction illustrates its complex coordination structure.
A new manganese coordination polymer [Mn(NIPH)(bbib)]n (where H2NIPH stands for 5-nitroisophthalic acid and bbib represents 1,4-bis(1H-benzimidazolyl)butane) has been hydrothermally synthesized and its structure has been characterized through single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The polymer crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n, with unit cell parameters of a = 9.7170(5), b = 13.2435(6), c = 18.4243(9) Å, b = 98.5830(10)°, and Z = 4. The Mn(II) ions exhibit trigonal biyramidal coordination and are linked by diverse NIPH2− anions to form binuclear subunits. These subunits are associated into 3D networks via NIPH2- and bbib ligands. KEY WORDS: Mn(II) complex, Crystal structure, 5-Nitroisophthalic acid, 1,4-Bis(1H-benzimidazolyl)butane Bull. Chem. Soc.
