Utilising a survey approach, data were collected from 185 respondents, revealing a positive average perception regarding the economic benefits of ecotourism (Mean = 4.2, SD = 0.5), particularly in job creation and income generation. Additionally, participants recognised social benefits such as enhanced community interaction and cultural exchange, with an average perception score of Mean = 4.0 (SD = 0.4). However, challenges emerged, including rising living costs (Mean = 3.8, SD = 0.6) and adverse effects on quality of life due to tourist congestion (Mean = 3.5, SD = 0.7). Environmental concerns, particularly regarding water pollution (Mean = 3.9, SD = 0.5) and light pollution in firefly habitats (Mean = 4.1, SD = 0.6) were prevalent among respondents, emphasising the need for improved management practices. This study highlights the necessity for stakeholder collaboration to maximise ecotourism’s benefits while mitigating negative impacts and ensuring sustainable development for Kuala Sepetang.
