Critique reveals tensions between economic efficiency and spiritual values in the Russian Orthodox Church's activities.
The article is devoted to the study of the ethical aspects of the application of the concept of lean management in the context of the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church. The fundamental contradiction between the spiritual values of Orthodoxy (non-covetousness, service, mercy) and the principles of economic efficiency underlying modern management approaches is analyzed. Particular attention is paid to criticism of the commercialization of various aspects of church life, such as paid services, excursions and souvenirs, which cause public debate and undermine trust in the Church.
