Observational analysis highlights the role of practice nurses in dementia management and health promotion.
Practice nurses are uniquely positioned to encourage health-promoting activities that support patients to manage their risk of developing dementia later in life. By encouraging health-promoting behaviours and better management of long-term conditions, practice nurses can positively impact modifiable risk factors for dementia. They also play a crucial role in supporting patients who are already diagnosed with dementia, helping them to live as well as possible through optimal management and treatment of comorbid conditions, which can significantly enhance their quality of life. This article explores the role of practice nurses, using an illustrative case study.
