Study demonstrates improved mechanical properties in carbon graphite using graphene oxide and silica reinforcement, indicating potential for broader applications.
Carbon graphite materials possess characteristics such as lightweight, corrosion resistance, self-lubrication, and excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, making them widely used in aerospace, transportation, and energy chemical industries. However, internal defects like microcracks and pores in carbon graphite materials significantly affect their mechanical properties. In this study, we prepared graphene oxide (GO) and modified nanosilica particles (SiO 2 ) with silane coupling agents. Through electrostatic self-assembly, we synthesized a GO/SiO 2 reinforced phase, ultimately successfully fabricating GO/SiO 2 reinforced graphite materials. The introduction of the GO/SiO 2 reinforcement effectively suppressed the initiation and propagation of structural defects, enhancing the mechanical properties of the carbon graphite materials.
