Simulation methods assess the effects of saddle deformation on gain and radiation performance in antenna arrays, indicating design parameters are critical.
How to quickly and accurately evaluate the effect of antenna deformation on electrical properties is a key problem to be solved in the design and manufacture of phased array antennas. In this paper, two kinds of antenna arrays are designed. HFSS simulation method and AEP calculation method are used respectively to evaluate the influence of saddle deformation on the electrical performance of the array. The results show that the gain of the two types of arrays decreases obviously when the maximum z-shift is greater than λ/64. When Z-deviation and directional deflection errors exist simultaneously, the radiation performance of the array deteriorates significantly when the maximum Z-deviation is greater than λ/128. The ability of the array to resist the deterioration of radiation performance is enhanced with the increase in array size. Comparing the calculation results of the two methods, the AEP method ignores the difference between the array pattern and the mutual coupling effect, resulting in a slightly poor calculation accuracy. The research in this paper provides theoretical guidance for determining the structural design parameters of the phased array antenna.
