This framework enhances linguistic fieldwork for low-resource languages, suggesting that context-aware apps can improve data collection accuracy.
This article proposes a mobile framework for philological and linguistic fieldwork, emphasizing low-resource languages in Uzbekistan. The application incorporates context-aware features such as geotagging, offline access, data collection, and biometrics to mitigate ethical obstacles and logistical problems faced by scholars documenting endangered languages and oral traditions. Through a user-oriented approach coupled with strong data protection policies, the system enables sensitive cultural and linguistic data to be documented contemporaneously and accurately while safeguarding privacy and local control. Simulated field tests of a prototype implementation confirmed high usability, metadata accuracy, and offline resilience. Together with user impressions, performance benchmarks indicate the application's promise in reshaping engagement with remote or politically sensitive field data for philologists and digital humanists. This study advances the intersection of mobile technologies and linguistic preservation, shifting paradigms of ethical data handling in digital documentation tools. Upcoming development plans aim for greater influence on collaborative decentralized linguistic research by embedding transcription, multilingual NLP, and secure cloud collaboration features.
