Numerical simulation reveals critical dynamic loads and stress points in parachute systems for airdrops.
Aiming at the impact problem of the parachute system of the heavy equipment airdrop vehicle, the model of the parachute system was established, and the accuracy of the model was verified by typical working conditions. Then, through the numerical simulation of the opening process of the parachute, the opening time of the parachute and the dynamic load of the parachute were obtained. Then, LS-DYNA was used to analyze the damage to the suspension during the parachute opening impact. The results show that the parachute opening process is divided into the pre-inflating stage, the inflating stage, and the stable landing stage. The dynamic load of the parachute opening is the largest when the parachute projection area is the largest. During parachute impact, the maximum stress in the suspension is inside the hinge bushing between the upper swing arm of the rear axle and the subframe of the rear axle, and the maximum stress is 586 MPa.
