Evaluation model shows the carbon-colored silane impregnation system excels in hydrothermal resistance and durability in humid climates, highlighting AHP's utility.
This study presents an innovative decision-making system based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) for selecting concrete coating materials in hot and humid environments. A comprehensive evaluation model was developed, incorporating 10 key indicators across three categories: physical properties, chemical properties, and technical economics. Expert scoring was used to determine the weights of these indicators. The model was applied to six coating systems in the Zhanjiang Airport Highway project. The results demonstrate that the carbon-colored silane impregnation system delivers the best overall performance, particularly in terms of hydrothermal resistance and weathering durability, followed by the fluorocarbon topcoat system. This research highlights the effectiveness of AHP in managing multi-criteria decision-making challenges, offering a clear and systematic five-stage framework for infrastructure maintenance in humid-hot climates. The approach contributes to more rigorous lifecycle management by integrating performance and economic factors in a standardized manner.
