Experiment reveals that BiOBr-MnO2 composite achieves 90.9% Congo red degradation, suggesting innovative wastewater treatment.
The BiOBr-MnO 2 /MS composite material was prepared by loading the BiOBr-MnO 2 catalyst onto MS (mesoporous silica) with sodium alginate (SA). The effects of concentration, pH, and time on the degradation of Congo red (CR) by the composite were investigated. Among the samples, POPs-5 with the highest BiOBr-MnO 2 catalyst loading exhibited the best wastewater treatment performance. Under conditions of 30 mg/L CR and 2 mL of 30% H 2 O 2 , POPs-5 achieved a degradation efficiency (D%) of 90.9% within 10 min, with complete CR removal after 50 min. The BiOBr-MnO 2 /MS composite demonstrated excellent stability and catalytic activity. Therefore, this study successfully developed a composite material with outstanding adsorption and catalytic performance.
