This study demonstrates the photophysical properties of silver bromide nanoparticles, suggesting potential applications in photochromic materials.
Silver Bromide (AgBr) nanoparticles are made utilizing the chemical precipitation technique. Structural metrics of samples like crystallite size, dislocation density, and lattice strain were determined from the diffraction data. The band gap was determined as 4.65 eV based on the Tauc plot constructed using absorption data. Emission and excitation spectra showed the luminescence behavior of the sample in the green band of the visible region. The colorimetric properties of the sample were also analyzed. Morphological analysis confirmed that AgBr particles were rod-shaped. TEM analysis confirmed the nanocrystalline nature of the samples. EDAX analysis confirms the elements present in the sample. This study emphasizes that the synthesized nanoparticles would be a promising photochromic material.
