Case report details life-threatening postpartum hemorrhage and emergency hysterectomy, highlighting skilled birth attendance's role.
This case report presents a maternal near-miss event involving a 28-year-old female who developed life-threatening postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) following a home delivery conducted without skilled assistance. The patient arrived in a state of hypovolemic shock due to a cervical tear extending into the round and the broad ligament, requiring emergency surgical intervention. Despite initial conservative measures, a total abdominal hysterectomy was performed to control bleeding. Timely resuscitation, blood transfusion, and ICU care led to a favourable outcome. This case underscores the critical importance of institutional delivery and skilled birth attendance in preventing maternal morbidity and mortality
