This observational analysis emphasizes healing efficiency in self-healing vitrimers, suggesting optimal conditions for applications.
This study investigates the effect of self‐healing parameters (healing time, temperature, and pressure) on the healing efficiency of a vitrimer synthesized by crosslinking diglycidyl 1,2‐cyclohexanedicarboxylate (DCN) with polyethylene imine (PEI) through a single lap‐shear joint configuration. The joint strength and healing efficiency were evaluated by the lap shear test. The maximum healing efficiency reached 51.0% when the cracked lap joint was healed at 180°C for 4 h at a pressure of 5 MPa. Thermal and mechanical characterizations confirm the stability of the vitrimer up to 97°C and hence show suitability for high‐performance applications in the packaging, electronics, and automotive industries. These findings provide the essential insights to improve the durability and functionality of vitrimers and contribute to sustainable self‐healing material advancement.
