Hanna Czeczott's 1925 expeditions to northern Turkey resulted in the description of 22 new taxa. Our study revisits them using Czeczott's original publications and herbarium collections. Of the 22 taxa described, we located all or parts of the original material for 21, designate 13 lectotypes (including one second‐step) and confirm 7 holotypes, 2 isotypes, 5 syntypes, and 29 isolectotypes. Our examination of the original material, along with identification keys, validates 7 taxa commonly regarded as distinct species, while the remaining 14 are best treated as synonyms, though discrepancies remain as to what they should be synonymous with. More notably, one widely accepted species, Smyrnium galaticum , requires further research to confirm its distinctiveness from S. cordifolium . Our study underscores the importance of revisiting historical collections to refine our understanding of regional floras and taxonomy.
