Comparative study analyzes effectiveness of PGE1 and PGE2 for inducing labour in PROM cases, suggesting implications for maternal safety.
PROM affects 10% of all pregnancies. PROM is amniorrhexis (i.e. rupture of amniotic membrane) in the absence of labour, irrespective of gestational age . The interval between rupture of membrane and onset of labour is referred as Latency interval. This interval is inversely proportional to the gestational age at the time of rupture of membranes. The aim of successful induction is to achieve vaginal delivery when continuation of pregnancy present a threat to life or well being of the mother or her unborn child.
