This paper demonstrates how contribution systems create interobjective value in decentralised platforms, suggesting new approaches for climate change.
Contribution systems offer an alternative to price-based value in decentralised platforms. Drawing on examples from Ethereum and ecological restoration projects, this paper considers how contribution systems generate “interobjective value” by tracing dependencies between actions over time. Contribution systems may also provide novel mechanisms for addressing complex, longterm challenges, such as climate change, by aggregating and incentivising contributions and their underlying relations.
