. The problem of increasing the efficiency of searching for new technical solutions for locomotive undercarriage components is considered. It is found that using the level matrix of management tools in the methods of technical innovation makes it possible to rationalize the procedures for identifying contradictions, choosing methods for their elimination and formulating the perfect final result. The disadvantages of the Siemens drive have been identified and the design of the assembly diagram has been proposed, which makes it possible to increase the manufacturability of the traction drive compared to the Siemens drive, increase the coefficient of adhesion of the wheel to the rail by about 10-15% and reduce the dynamic unsprung mass by about 30%.
