This approach integrates sustainable agricultural practices to improve land productivity and reduce carbon footprint.
The article considers the concept of carbon-based land management as an innovative direction of sustainable agricultural development, combining the tasks of increasing land productivity, soil protection and reducing the carbon footprint of agricultural production. The necessity of transition to a new paradigm of territorial planning focused on sequestration of carbon in the soil, integration of agroecological practices and longterm conservation of natural capital is substantiated. The classification of carbon-based functions of land use is given, the economic feasibility of introducing such approaches in the context of climate challenges and the implementation of state climate policy is analyzed. Special attention is paid to the tools of planning, monitoring and certifi cation of carbon units at the level of agricultural territories. The integration of carbon credit mechanisms and fi nancial instruments into the economic framework of land management planning opens up unprecedented opportunities to promote sustainable farming practices and optimize land use.
