This article synthesizes the development of a surface water database in Polish administration, integrating GIS and remote sensing tools.
Although it seems obvious in today's era of digitization to have an electronic surface water database, as proven in earlier studies, there are still many shortcomings, errors, and a lack of updating spatial information about the hydrographic network despite its dynamic nature. The answer to the need for an up-to-date spatial water database com-bines GIS and remote sensing tools. Using the example of the Polish administration, this article synthesizes the structure of the surface water database. It develops a scheme for using geoinformation tools to automatically obtain information about the hydrographic network's course. The study also analyzed the optimization of remote sensing input im-ages of medium and low aerial ceiling.
