This analysis reveals systemic failures in the global economic system, suggesting a paradigm shift in understanding. It highlights how a non-systemic perspective distorts our comprehension of interconnected elements.
Unlike conventional systems thinking papers, this paper adopts the global economic system for understanding the interconnectedness of elements within a system. It argues that any narrower perspective is inherently non-systemic, which challenges much of the existing literature on systemic phenomena. By integrating narrative synthesis with this expansive systemic framework, the systems thinking approach reveals how prevailing theories operate within a hidden non-systemic paradigm that distorts the understanding of true systemic realities. A review of diverse inquiries into global economic failures exposes their distorted lenses and a paradox: despite disciplinary and methodology differences, many converge on similar patterns of failure rooted in the non-systemic perspective. While this paper explicitly points to a profound paradigm shift that challenges long-held assumptions, it implicitly paves, if not leads, the way for rethinking the foundational knowledge. In turn, it potentially unlocks solutions to the pressing global social issues challenges.
