Newly described Psammogalumna species shows distinct morphological traits in Hormozgan, highlighting regional biodiversity.
The fourth oribatid mite representative of the genus Psammogalumna Balogh, 1943 (Oribatida, Galumnidae), Psammogalumna persiangulfia Akrami sp. nov., is reported and described based on female and male adult specimens collected from soil and leaf litter under Persian walnut trees in Hormozgan province, southern Iran. The new species can be distinguished from the other species of the genus by the large body size, the length and morphology of notogastral porose areas A3, and the number of anal and adanal setae. It is the second Iranian species of the genus after Psammogalumna iranica Akrami, Irani-Nejad & Mirzaie, 2011. An identification key for Psammogalumna is presented.
