Magnetic enrichment enhances dysprosium recovery in low-concentration solutions, suggesting efficient separation techniques.
The magnetic enrichment of dysprosium (Dy) under low-concentration conditions was investigated using a Halbach array magnet (HAM). Magnetic field analysis confirmed the strong magnetic force of the HAM. A Mach–Zehnder interferometer was used to visualize the concentration gradients in Dy(NO3)3 solutions. Even at a Dy concentration of 1 wt% (4.7 gL-1), the HAM promoted selective Dy accumulation. This study highlights the potential of the HAM for use in the efficient recovery of Dy via magnetic separation.
