This two-part series explores the grant application process and its impact on advanced practice registered nurses, highlighting key lessons learned.
Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) are well positioned to advance their profession through the dissemination of evidence that informs education and clinical practice. This evidence often emerges from research and quality-improvement initiatives, which rely on interdisciplinary teams to secure funding, design projects, and evaluate outcomes. Grant writing, although essential, can be daunting for novice applicants unfamiliar with identifying opportunities, building teams, and developing proposals. Moreover, gaps exist in the literature regarding the full grant lifecycle from preaward to postaward. This two-part series aims to address these gaps; part One will outline the grant application process and share lessons learned by the authors.
