The study focuses on fake news, misinformation, and its impact on political decision making in Edo state 2024 governorship election. Primarily targeted voters in Oredo local government in Edo State, as well as political parties, candidates, and other relevant stakeholders, such as media organizations and civil society groups. The mixed methods approach combining a survey and interviews was well-suited to the research objectives. Agenda setting theory has been applied to understand how misinformation can shape the public’s perception of what issues matter. The survey revealed a high prevalence of fake news and misinformation during the Edo State 2024 Governorship Election. These trends point to a serious threat to informed political decision-making.
