The basic objective of the creation and formation of the European Union is the integration of all European countries into a single economic and political block that will function according to the principle of equality of all of its members. From the very beginning of the establishment of democratic changes in Serbia, our country began the path of European integration, which implies, above all, the process of harmonizing internal and external policy with Union policy. This harmonization process is not at all easy, especially because Serbia is constantly faced with new conditions and challenges that this negotiation system brings with it. This paper will highlight the main problems and challenges that Serbia faces on its way to European integration. A short course of negotiations with the Union so far will be presented, and attention will be paid to the seriousness and commitment of our country to European integration. The problems that Serbia is currently facing on its European path are certainly the inconsistency of its foreign policy of Republic of Serbia with the foreign policy of the Union and the territorial problem related to Kosovo and Metohija.
