This work reports improved anti-icing performance through polyurethane coatings using fluorinated alcohol, suggesting better environmental practices.
The work is devoted to the development of anti-icing coatings based on polyurethanes. The polyurethane varnish was a one-component composition based on Laprol 5003-2B-10 polyether and polyisocyanate (PIC) in an acetone solution with a concentration of 50 wt%. dry matter. The objects of comparison were two-component coatings based on acrylic polymer ECOFORM 5104 and polyesters based on castor oil Setathane D1150 and D 1160 (Allnex) cured by Desmodur 44V 20 L (Bayer) in a toluene medium with a concentration of 50% wt. Fluorine-containing and organosilicon compounds were used as an anti-icing additive: telomer alcohol - 1,1,9-trihydrohexadecafluorononanol alcohol (n4), production wastes of polyfluorinated telomer alcohols (KOST product) and PMS-200 silicone oil. The evaluation of the anti-icing performance of the coatings was carried out by changing the contact angle of wetting. It was found that the introduction of polyfluorinated telomer alcohol production waste (KOST product) and fluorinated alcohol into the matrix of the polyurethane coating makes it possible to increase the wetting angle, which leads to an improvement in the anti-icing properties of the coating. The general complex of coating indicators was also evaluated: tensile stress, MPa; elongation at break,%; hardness, a.u.; elasticity in bending, a.u.; impact strength, kJ; adhesion, score. The behavior of anti-icing coatings at elevated temperatures was evaluated by the combined method of TGA and DTA. It is shown that adding KOST polyurethane coating and fluorinated alcohol to the matrix allows not only to increase the wetting angle, which improves the anti-icing properties of the coating, but also to obtain sufficiently strong and thermally stable coatings.
