Observational analysis reveals similar outcomes for uterine preservation in pelvic organ prolapse surgery, suggesting benefits in operating time and complication rates.
(Abstracted from Urogynecology (Phila) 2025, doi:10.1097/SPV.0000000000001667) Uterine-preserving prolapse surgery (UPPS) for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) has often been shown to have similar outcomes to surgical repairs involving hysterectomy. Previous literature has also shown that UPPS is associated with a shorter operating time and lower intraoperative blood loss, as well as decreasing risk of postsurgical complications.
