This analysis compares image quality and scanning efficiency between StarVIBE and VIBE Dixon sequences in pediatric liver MRI, suggesting optimal uses for each.
Motivation: To addresses the challenge of low breath-holding cooperation in pediatric abdominal MRI examinations. Goal(s): To compare the image quality and scanning efficiency of StarVIBE Dixon and VIBE Dixon in pediatric liver. Approach: Fifty pediatric patients underwent abdominal MRI examinations using the StarVIBE Dixon and VIBE Dixon sequences, with subjective and objective evaluation and comparative analysis of image quality. Results: Both sets of images met the clinical diagnostic criteria. The image quality of StarVIBE Dixon was slightly superior to that of VIBE Dixon (P<0.05), , VIBE Dixon is more appropriate for scans performed after sedation to decrease the risk of anesthesia exposure. Impact: This study identifies the optimal MRI sequences for pediatric liver scans in different clinical scenarios, aiming to enhance diagnostic accuracy and reduce patient discomfort and anesthesia-related risks.
