This research investigates metabolic biomarkers of acute kidney injury using IDEAL-IQ and MALDI-MSI, indicating potential for improved diagnosis.
Motivation: In clinical practice, acute kidney injury (AKI) patients have high mortality rates, poor prognosis, and the metabolic mechanisms involved remain unclear. Goal(s): The study aims to investigate the metabolic changes associated with AKI and to identify potential metabolic biomarkers. Approach: 18 male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups. IDEAL-IQ sequences were used to collect fat fraction (FF) data from the kidneys. MALDI-MSI was employed to acquire in situ kidney metabolic molecular information. Results: The AKI group showed a significant increase in FF values in the inner stripe of outer medulla. TG (50:6) may be a potential metabolic marker for AKI. Impact: It is of great significance for the clinical prevention, precise diagnosis, and effective treatment of acute kidney injury.
