This analysis uncovers similarities between PSMA PET and arterial spin labeling in glioblastoma, suggesting new radiotherapy paths.
Motivation: Targeting glioblastoma microvasculature using prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) ligands for diagnosis and treatment represents a promising area of recent research. Goal(s): This study aimed to investigate the relationship between PSMA PET and arterial spin labeling (ASL) perfusion imaging, and their correlation with immunohistochemical microvascular indices. Approach: We investigated correlation between derived parameters of ASL and PSMA PET. Microvascular indices PSMA and microvascular density (MVD) was assessed and its correlation with imaging was analysed. Results: Our results highlight the similarity of biological information captured by PSMA PET and ASL in GBM, tracer uptake on PSMA PET can reliably reflect MVD and perfusion of tumors. Impact: These findings may be valuable for further revealing the potential mechanisms underlying PSMA tracer uptake, and also provide support for PSMA-targeted radiotherapy as a viable treatment option for patients with glioblastoma.
