Abstract

Motivation: The complex bidirectional relationship between the liver and heart, known as the liver-heart axis, complicates clinical decision-making for patients with heart failure (HF). Goal(s): To explore the prognostic predictive value of hepatic T1-time (T1liver) measured on cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 maps in patients with HF. Approach: We conducted a retrospective analysis of CMR images and clinical data from patients with HF and performed a survival analysis. Results: T1liver measured on CMR T1 maps had an independent and valuable prognostic value in patients with HF, and the risk of adverse events could be further stratified into low, moderate, and high groups. Impact: This study presents a new algorithm for risk stratification of patients with HF based on CMR T1 maps, aiming to reduce the use of gadolinium-based contrast agents, allowing for a broader and more efficient application in complex clinical settings.
