Observational analysis links topological properties to NEDA status in RRMS patients, suggesting clinical implications.
Motivation: The associations between brain alterations and no evidence of disease activity (NEDA) in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients taking oral disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) remain insufficiently explored. Goal(s): To explore the associations between the monthly rate of topological property change (mrTPC) in the structural and functional connectivity network and NEDA status in RRMS patients on oral DMTs. Approach: Diffusion tensor imaging and resting-state functional MRI data were analyzed to calculate the mrTPCs. Logistic regression model was used to explore the associations between altered mrTPCs and NEDA status. Results: Specifically altered mrTPC was linked to short-term NEDA status in RRMS patients on oral DMTs. Impact: Specifically altered mrTPCs were linked to short-term NEDA status in RRMS patients on oral DMTs. Although the specific mechanisms for achieving each NEDA status may differ and need further investigation, these findings can help clinicians personalize RRMS treatment and monitoring.
